Three races comprise the fundraising event: a traditional 5K race timed by Lin-Mark Sports, a children’s fun run and a virtual run for those unable to join the race in person. Participants who register in advance at galfsuperpower5k.com can pick up their race packets from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 or Friday, Feb. 18 at Fleet Feet Fort Myers, 13499 S. Cleveland Ave., Suite 209. The foundation also will accept in-person registrations at those times, as well as at the race-day check-in, which begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 at FSW Parking Lot 12 behind the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. Pets are prohibited, but service dogs are permitted along the race route. The cost is $30 per person for participants ages 13 and older and includes an event T-shirt and race-day snacks. Children 12 and under are free and will receive a trophy. Proceeds from the event will support the Guardian ad Litem Foundation’s programs and services. Sponsors for the Superpower 5K include Daniels Parkway Animal Hospital, Fleet Feet, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lin-Mark Sports, Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida, Peak Fitness Southwest Florida and Vein Specialists - Dr. Joseph Magnant. Vibe Yoga will offer a pre-race warmup and stretching session. Additionally, a dozen nonprofit and business partners will have informational tables at the event. “The Superpower 5K is our first race, and our hope is that the event helps shine a spotlight on the growing need to support Southwest Florida children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned and are now in the foster care system,” said Jessica Stanfield, executive director of the Guardian ad Litem Foundation. “These children need clothing, beds, pillows and other items to feel like a ‘normal’ child, as well as someone who can advocate on their behalf.” The Guardian ad Litem Foundation recruits, trains and supports court-approved volunteer child advocates who represent youth as they navigate the judicial, education and child welfare systems. The foundation also provides financial assistance to help meet a child’s basic and developmental needs, including the Children’s Needs Program that provides “extras” like birthday parties, tutoring, summer camp programs, movie tickets and registration fees for clubs and sports. The foundation represents children in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. For more information about the Superpower 5K or supporting the Guardian ad Litem Foundation, please email outreach@galfoundation20.org [/fusion_text][fusion_button link="https://www.facebook.com/events/977110116227331" title="" target="_blank" link_attributes="" alignment_medium="" alignment_small="" alignment="" modal="" hide_on_mobile="small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility" sticky_display="normal,sticky" class="" id="" color="default" button_gradient_top_color="" hue="" saturation="" lightness="" alpha="" button_gradient_bottom_color="" button_gradient_top_color_hover="" button_gradient_bottom_color_hover="" gradient_start_position="" gradient_end_position="" gradient_type="" radial_direction="" linear_angle="180" accent_color="" accent_hover_color="" type="" bevel_color="" bevel_color_hover="" border_top="" border_right="" border_bottom="" border_left="" border_radius_top_left="" border_radius_top_right="" border_radius_bottom_right="" border_radius_bottom_left="" border_color="" border_hover_color="" size="" padding_top="" padding_right="" padding_bottom="" padding_left="" fusion_font_family_button_font="" fusion_font_variant_button_font="" font_size="" line_height="" letter_spacing="" text_transform="" stretch="default" margin_top="" margin_right="" margin_bottom="" margin_left="" icon="" icon_position="left" icon_divider="no" animation_type="" animation_direction="left" animation_speed="0.3" animation_offset=""]Join the Facebook Event![/fusion_button][fusion_text][/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
