The inaugural Home for the Holidays Charity 5K Fun Run/Walk raised $3,895 to support the Guardian ad Litem Foundation, 20th Judicial Circuit.
Held Dec. 11 at Burnt Store Marina Fitness, Racquet & Pool Club in Punta Gorda, the race attracted more than 60 runners and walkers. Participants navigated the roadways around Burnt Store Marina and raced to the finish line on a beautiful Sunday morning.
“We’re so appreciative of each runner and walker who participated in the 5K Run/Walk, and thankful for Burnt Store Marina Fitness, Racquet & Pool Club hosting the race,” said Jessica Stanfield, executive director of the Guardian ad Litem Foundation. “Proceeds will support a program that provides children with access to resources so they can feel like ‘normal’ kids.”
The Foundation’s Children’s Needs Program pays for “extras” like birthday parties, tutoring, summer camp programs, new clothing, movie tickets, and registration fees for clubs and sports.
Following the 5K Run/Walk, participants enjoyed a light lunch, music and an awards ceremony.
